At ABC Anchors, we understand the vital role that responsible anchoring plays in preserving our marine ecosystems. That’s why we’re excited to introduce ABC Subsea, led by industry experts Rob Robinson, Ed Walker from Maritime Consulting, and Andrew Hunt from VSEL. This division is committed to developing innovative seabed anchoring solutions that minimise environmental impact while maintaining functionality.
Collaboration for Conservation
ABC Subsea has been actively involved in a ground-breaking project with ReMEDIES for the past four years, aimed at protecting the seabed and promoting seagrass growth. By engineering solutions for the deployment of advanced mooring systems for Voluntary No Anchor Zones (VNAZ), we are contributing to the preservation of marine habitats.
This project is made possible through collaboration with esteemed organisations, including The GREEN BLUE, Natural England, the Royal Yachting Association (RYA), the Marine Conservation Society, the Ocean Conservation Trust, and Plymouth City Council.
A Revolutionary Anchoring Solution
The team at ABC Subsea has designed an innovative approach to anchoring that involves installing anchors below the seabed. This method allows us to attach mooring points securely, eliminating the need for traditional anchoring that can damage sensitive marine environments. Here’s how the system works:
Mooring Installation Tool (MIT): This advanced tool is designed for efficient and effective deployment of screw pile anchors without the need for divers, showcasing our capability to manage multiple installations simultaneously.
Advanced Mooring Systems (AMS): We have successfully deployed 8 AMS, for VNAZ at Osborne Bay, Isle of Wight.
Key Benefits of Our Approach
Safety: Our installation methods reduce the need for divers, enhancing safety during operations.
Capability: Our systems can be installed in tidal conditions of up to 1.5 knots, ensuring effectiveness even in challenging environments.
Visibility: Our technology allows for installations in near-zero visibility, expanding the range of operational conditions.
Efficiency: The entire process from mobilisation to demobilisation can be completed in just 2 days (process for 8-10 units installed). The actual anchoring takes about 2 minutes, with an additional hour allocated for boat manoeuvring and installation.
Adaptability for Various Conditions
Our anchoring system is adaptable to different water depths, allowing for versatile applications. The ability to attach various equipment to the anchors further enhances the utility of our solutions, making them suitable for a range of marine projects.
A Commitment to the Future
At ABC Subsea, we are dedicated to protecting our oceans while providing robust anchoring solutions for marine operations. Our four years of collaboration with ReMEDIES and our partnership with leading environmental organisations demonstrate our commitment to sustainability and innovation.
We continue to explore new technologies and methods for preserving marine ecosystems.
Together, we can make a difference in safeguarding our oceans for future generations.
